Steve's New Love

One day I was looking through Craigslist, and came across an add searching for someone to do a wooden boat restoration. Knowing that Steve loves wooden boats, nearly as much as airplanes, I handed him the add and told him to go get the job. Steve went and interviewed, and out of 65 applicants he was chosen. Steve's designated work space is on a beautiful piece of land not far from our home. Steve has been working long hours, and we are not sure how long the project will last or where it will lead. Despite these facts, we are grateful that he has found a project that he truly loves.
Steve engrossed in his new project. This is just one of many long days.

One beautiful boat, with a lot of potential. It is a 1951 Chris Craft, 22 feet long(the same type of boat as in the movie On Golden Pond).

The bottom of the boat in need of some tender, loving care.

The boat in the process of being flipped right-side-up on the trailer. Steve's woodwork is really impressive.

Designing and bending the wood to fit the bow of the boat proved to be the most challenging part of the project thus far. Steve met the challenge with flying colors.

Steve's beautiful craftmanship

Steve looking forward to a little break while the boat is off to receive a fiberglass bottom. He has grown very attached though, and was sad to let go of his new love.

How cool is that! Didn't he and his dad have a similar one growing up. Nice job Steve. With your touch I am sure it will be perfect.
