Horse Lessons

Ever since Kennedy was young, she has been fascinated with horses. We live in an area where numerous people own horses, and they are part of our everyday, small-town scenery. We often stop to pet and feed the horses, but this has never been sufficient for Kennedy, who has had an innate desire to actually ride one. A few months ago, we found out that one of the young girls in our neighborhood has been taking riding lessons at a nearby ranch. We met with the owner of the ranch and were impressed by her dedi
cation and longing to help children connect with the horses. Steve and I decided to let Kennedy take riding lessons a few times a month in order to determine if it was something that she would really relate to. I have never seen Kennedy so focused and determined. She has been learning to care for the horses, saddle up, lead, steer and give directions. The teacher has been impressed with how quickly she has been absorbing information. Kennedy will train with a horse and then very politely ask the teacher if she can make the horse go fast. I think we may be raising a little dare-devil. Steve believes she will end up being a barrel racer.....oh my!!

How fun for her. Just like her aunt. I wish all the time we had a horse...
