Tuesdays With Steve

Every other Tuesday I go to Salt Lake to pick up my paycheck. Steve and I have started a new tradition where we meet on these days and have lunch together. The fun thing about downtown Salt Lake is that there are all of these quaint, unique little restaurants and cafes hidden away among the businesses. Steve and I decided that instead of going to a chain restaurant on these days, we would find a small restaurant we have not been to and give it a try. So far we have found a great place that only serves soup(the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld would be proud), a fantastic salad and sandwich shop run by a Russian lady with a strong accent, and yesterday we found Esther's. Esther's is a little cafe a few blocks away from Temple Square. It is run by Esther and her daughter, who were both there yesterday. Steve ordered a halibut sandwich, which was the best I have ever tasted, along with some fabulous homemade fries. I had a taco salad, which was not too shabby. Esther's fry sauce was also pretty amazing. Now, like every restaurant, Esther's was not perfect - her shakes could use a little work - but, I was not disappointed. We were glad to here that this cafe has been doing well, and I love being in a country where these little mom and pop places can exist. I look forward to a new find in a few weeks.

Sounds like a fun tradition! Someday when my babies are all in school I will be able to do the same. It is not so fun to have to drag little ones that don't like to try new food, out to eat.
