Plaster, Sprite, and Lots of Mentos

This month was the Fourth Grade Science Fair for Christopher's school. Christopher decided that he wanted to construct his own volcano, creating the volcanic erruption with Mentos and Sprite. He did a great job brainstorming and developing his project. I personally enjoyed testing the amount of Mentos needed to make the Sprite react. His project was quite a hit at the fair, because everyone wanted to see the volcano errupt. Christopher used more than 150 Mentos and six bottles of Sprite, but he still needed to place an "Out of Mentos" sign up towards the end of the fair.

* Note - if you want to have a lot of fun with your kids, let them drop twelve Mentos into a 2 liter bottle of Sprite or Coke. Do it somewhere outside where you don't mind a sticky mess, preferably the lawn.
